Description Chris Beck CLA 2002-06-18 12:02:10 EDT
If I open a perspective, I should not have to Save Perspective As ... to remember my windows
settings (what size, which monitor, isMaximized, &c.)
Comment 1 Nick Edgar CLA 2002-06-18 16:19:30 EDT
Please elaborate on how you think it should work.
Comment 2 Chris Beck CLA 2002-06-18 18:49:49 EDT
- I have the User Preference "Open a new perspective" set to "In a new window"
- I open the (say) Debug
perspective in a new window,
move the window around the screen,
    move the window from one
screen to another,
    resize the window,
    maximize the window
    close the window
- The next time
I open the Debug perspective I would expect to see it maximized on the appropriate screen, and if I
then Restore the window it would be in the last place and have the last dimensions it had before I
maximized it.

Thanks for clarifying. Good idea. For consideration post 2.0.

Later is no problem at all. Thanks.
As an aside - so far Eclipse does a great job of supporting
multiple monitor set-ups (unlike, for example, OpenOffice and JBuilder) - I'd like to thank you and
the team for that and ask that such systems be included in whatever regression tests you kind folk
have set-up. If you need a volunteer for such testing, I offer my services.

Thanks, we'll keep you in mind for multi-monitor testing.
We currently have some known problems whereby dialogs can appear split between
two monitors. Do you not get this behaviour?
Unfortunately we won't be able to fix this for 2.0, but plan to address it
shortly thereafter.
Comment 6 Chris Beck CLA 2002-06-20 01:34:08 EDT
I do not have the split-dialog problem, but I am running two separate video cards, not a dual-head. I
understand that with some drivers dual-head cards from nVidia and Matrox a dialog box that is
supposed to be screen-centered will show up split across both of them. (I experienced that on an old
GeForce2 MX card with one of the first release that supported dual-head)... I think some old
drivers may even report that there is only one monitor to the OS. It's a nightmare I'm sure ... but
all the latest (Windows) drops have options that prevent this sort of thing from happening.
PS
... Opera randomly chooses a screen on which to show it's pop-ups. Annoying.

Reopened for investigation
