Description Jane Li CLA 2002-06-17 11:39:26 EDT
CVS default setting for empty directories
installable driver 20020614a

Steps to reproduce:

Machine 1
1. Create a java project, create a folder under this java project
2. Connect to CVS Respositories
3. Select the java project, select Team -> share project...
4. In Synchronize, right click on the project -> commit
Machine 2
5. Start wsad,
6. Connect to CVS
7. Select the projects, Check out as project
8. Folder under the java project is missing
9. Window -> Preferences -> Team -> CVS
Prune empty directories is selected as default

Uncheck the Prunce empty directories, do the above steps again. Folder under
the java project is shown.

We probably want to uncheck the Prune empty directories as default, so that
customers won't be confused.

We've chosen to prune by default because you can't (easely) delete directories
from the CVS server. Thus for any project that isn't new, its confusing to see
the old directories.

For new projects unfortunately the opposite happens; as you are initially
populating your workspace and creating empty directories, its confusing that
you don't get them back.

Maybe having the option accessible from the sync view would help.

I am marking this future (post 2.0) with 'readme' since I don't see a clear
solution given that either default is undersirable for one case.

Pls reopen if you feel its critical for 2.0.
