I20070917-0010

1. Shutdown a workspace that was running I20070911-0833
2. Restart this same workspace with I20070917-0010
Observe: You get an error dialog saying: "Could not restore workbench layout" with the following content:

Problems occurred restoring workbench.
Unable to restore perspective: Workspace - Java Browsing.
    Could not create view: org.eclipse.team.ccvs.ui.AnnotateView
      Could not create view: org.eclipse.team.ccvs.ui.AnnotateView

No other information is in the .log.

I think this happens because Michael removed the old Annotate mechanisms as said in bug 202422. It's out and there is no way back. Please try using the QuickDiff based annotation instead.

WONTFIX see comment #1.

Don't you think this message is a little scary when a 3.3 user is going to switch to 3.4 ?
Comment 4 Michael Valenta CLA 2007-09-17 09:07:28 EDT
If you have suggestions on how the message could be improved, feel free to reopen the bug and move it to Platform/UI (since they provide the message).
Comment 5 Jerome Lanneluc CLA 2007-09-17 09:22:50 EDT
I think this dialog should not even be shown to the user in this case since the view has been removed on purpose. Maybe there should be a way for the provider of the view to tell Platform/UI that the view has been removed on purpose.
Comment 6 Jerome Lanneluc CLA 2007-09-17 09:23:28 EDT
Moving to Platform/UI
Comment 7 Tod Creasey CLA 2007-09-17 13:44:35 EDT
You also have this issue when you switch workspaces. It is a useful warning in that case when functionality is not avaialble.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
