Description Mike M CLA 2007-08-27 14:13:34 EDT
When you drag a file from the Package Explorer or Navigator view into the editor space, the file you dragged is opened in the editor. Currently, if there are multiple panes to the editor, the file is opened in the currently-selected pane. Could we change this so that the file opens in the pane you drag it to?

The use case is that I sometimes have two panes open, one for each of two similar projects, in order to compare similar files in both projects. When opening a new file, I'd like to be able to drag the file into the appropriate pane and have it open there. Currently, the workaround is to open the file, then drag the tab to the correct pane. Adding this feature would remove this extra step.

This is marked 3.4. Was anything done about it? Please set either the resolution or the target milestone appropriately.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
