in general, make the local tasks more similar to repository tasks. e.g., by porting the new functionality gained by the repository task editor to the local task editor.
Local tasks already have a "Move to" category in the context menu. Only repository tasks not in the Task List have an "Add to". Note that we are also considering adding a Category drop down to the top of the local task editor. Let us know how the current implementation meets your needs. One invariant that I think is important to preserve, for the purpose of simplicity, is that any kind of task can only be added to a single category.
I was thinking about being able to add them to a category when creating them. Therefore in the task editor and not the task list view. Just tried it out and saw that you can invoke context menu on editor and not just tasks in task list view :-) I would prefer a category drop down at the top of the local task editor.
+1, I would like to see that too. Interested in taking it on?
Interested yes :-) Will work on it time permitting.
Sounds good. Please post if you start on it. I figure that the category selection should go on the line just below the summary, and be pre-populated with the selected category if applicable (the category is pre-set to be the one that was selected in the Task List).
Needs to be considered along with editor layout refactoring for 3.0
Will need to defer this to 3.1.
A category chooser is now available in the attributes section.
