Created attachment 75164 [details] The Eclipse log Build ID: I20070621-1340 Steps To Reproduce: 1. Create a new Java Project 2. Add a subfolder to the project, say 'xml' 3. Now delete the subfolder The subfolder does not get removed from the Project Explorer View. Clicking 'Refresh' on the project still does not make it go away. Only rebooting Eclipse corrects the issue. Originally, I had a problem with seeing new resources in the Project Explorer after I created them as well as the above issue. After doing a clean install, I only saw the above issue. More information: Using the Europa Java EE package download. I consistently see log entries like the following: !MESSAGE While loading class "org.eclipse.mylyn.internal.tasks.ui.ITaskHighlighter", thread "Thread[Worker-3,5,main]" timed out waiting (5000ms) for thread "Thread[Worker-4,5,main]" to finish starting bundle "update@plugins/org.eclipse.mylyn.tasks.ui_2.0.0.v20070627-1400.jar [334]". Brennan: assuming that the Mylyn entry that you are seeing is a warning, it is unlikely for it to be related to the problem that you are seeing, and would instead be a duplicate of bug 188524. I did some investigation and cannot reproduce this. Are you able to reproduce with a clean workspace and Europa Java EE with no additional configuration or plug-ins installed?
Mik, Not sure if the stack trace in the log is related to the issue I am seeing (maybe not). I just included it because it was the only 'error' I could find. Yes, I did a clean install (including deleting the .metadata folder in my workspace) and was able to reproduce the issue. On 'fully loaded' install (serveral plugins) I can see the issue of a new folder not showing up in the Project Explorer when it is created. On a clean install I only see it not 'go away' when I delete it. In both cases restarting Eclipse is required to see the folder (or not see it)--'Refresh' command does not work. I am running XP with SP2 (work) on a dual-proc Xeon. I don't see the same issue at home on my single proc P4 Windows Vista box.
Brennan: The trace in the description is very unlikely to be related. When this happens are you using Mylyn and have a task active? If so, is the "Focused" mode on the Package Explorer enabled? Tod: I'm not sure how Mylyn could be implicated in this bug, since it consider automatically created projects to be interesting. Are you aware of Platform bugs of this sort? I've never seen similar behavior, and it's odd that Brennan can only reproduce it on one of his machines.
Michael Elder owns the project explorer
I'm not sure that it is related to Mylyn, either, which is why I initially filed it somewhere else. I've used Eclipse 3.2.x on the same box with none of these issues...they only appeared after switching to 3.3 (Europa). I am using a (slightly) customized version of Win XP SP2 here at work. Haven't tried reproducing it on other XP boxes.
Reassigning to Platform/IDE. Currently no indication that this is related to Mylyn. If any arises please bounce back to us.
I seem to be experiencing a similar bug. When I create folders or classes (CDT/c++) they only sometimes show up in the project explorer and refreshing doesn't help. Only restarting eclipse will make them show up. Running eclipse 3.3.1 on Linux
Brennan, are you seeing this in 3.4?
I think I may have isolated the problem. It only seems to show up when you are using Working Sets (i.e., if you have a specific working set enabled in the Project Explorer). If you create any top-level resource in a project, it does not show up in the Project Explorer IF you have a working set selected (hitting Refresh on the project causes it to show up now, though). If you don't, the problem doesn't show up. I've reproduced this in Eclipse 3.4 on both Vista and XP.
This sound like 212389. It's fixed in 3.4.1 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 212389 ***
