This is related to the problem "1GD0JXR: ITPUI:WIN98 - Cannot open file with filename > about 220 chars"
which Core is currently working on.

Ryan, Core team says they fixed this problem. Can you verify.
Comment 2 Ryan Cooper CLA 2002-01-21 14:50:37 EST
Is this an Eclipse problem or a VAJava problem? I don't think VAJava is
installed on my machine.
Comment 3 Simon Arsenault CLA 2002-01-21 15:21:28 EST
The reference to VA Java is because at the time we were not self-hosting in
Eclipse, but rather in VA Java (i.e VA Java running Eclipse, instead of Eclipse
running Eclipse).

Try the steps in Eclipse...ignore references to VA Java.

Currently in Eclipse (build 20020115), there is no problem caused by creating
or deleting files with extremely long names. Eclipse for Windows shows an
appropriate message box if the user tries to create a file with a name longer
than allowed by Windows, but there is no abnormal behaviour by Eclipse.
