When I click on the New Task button in the Task View on Windows 2000, the default values for the resource and folder associated with the task are tied to the active editor. On Linux, no default values for resource or folder are supplied. It does not appear to be possible to set these values using the New Task dialog, so on Linux, they can never be set.
It uses the selected resource if you have chosen this in the filter settings. Is it possible you were using different filter settings between Linux and Windows.
It appears to be working as you described. I could have sworn that I ran Filter->Reset before reporting the bug just to make sure, but the filter was on. This behaviour seems counter-intuative. Why do the filter settings define the default resource/folder location? Wouldn't it be better to always default to the current resource/folder and provide UI to clear them when you want a task that is not clearly tied to either one? Alternatively, tasks with no resource/folder specified could be treated separately from tasks with a location, with respect to the filter settings. I imaginve that location-less tasks would be used for a sort of global todo list that should be shown/hidden independently of the currently active resource.
Agree that having different behaviour for the actions based on the filter settings is counter-intuitive. Filters should just filter and not affect how the actions work. I tried changing it to always create tasks on the workspace root, but people complained so I backed out of it. Now that we have the Add Task action, we should change it so that New Task in the Tasks view always creates it on the workspace root, but you can select a resource in the Navigator and choose Add Task if you want it on a specific resource. Reopened for investigation
Is this still an issue in 3.2?
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported. Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
