It would be nice to get a "mylar-style" popup indicating that you have received a message. This should at least be configurable to let you know that someone has messaged you. Currently I believe the view is bolded.

I'm changing the subject away from the popups as that's just one of many notification schemes. We can use sounds, or something similar to how Eclipse jobs are monitored with a little icon thing on the bottom right corner letting you know that something has happened (with that little exclamation point)

This is already enabled for the Messages view (IM i.e. 1-1)...Remy added some time ago. Do you mean for the chat view (multiple users in group) as well?

I agree that popups or other things could be used. Remember also that we have to notify people of incoming calls (call API...i.e. skype) and we could merge these two things to notify incoming media X as an approach.

I just downloaded 1.1.0 and I am very happy with way this is implemented with the popup box, however:

- The popup box only shows up on the first message? It would be nice if it would show up on every message (maybe configurable)
- sound on an incoming message would be really nice.

But thanks for this box!

I think I'm missing something here. I recently switched from GAIM to ECF for instant messaging with my co-workers (as we're developing with Eclipse anyway). I am not a big fan of perspective switching (might as well switch applications, like in the olden days) and I usually have a couple of different views displayed in each view site. The Messages view is usually not visible in my workbench because some other view is on top of it (unless I just happened to be chatting with a fellow developer). If I have a new incoming IM I would expect the Messages view to automatically come to the front. But apparently that's not the case, and I already missed a couple of incoming messages for that reason. Is there a way to configure this with the current ECF version or is this something that is still pending implementation?

I can't say that I've used any IM clients that pops up a window from the system tray every single time I get a message.

Someone would have contribute an EPL-licensed (or lax-er) audio file for this I suppose.

I believe the title of the 'Messages' view should become bold when a message has been received.

I'm pretty sure this configuration is not implemented at the moment.
