Description Martin Oberhuber CLA 2007-05-08 05:51:56 EDT
The Platform Team/Extras Target Management component including its synchronization support, FTP and WebDAV connectors is being discontinued as of Eclipse 3.3:
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/cross-project-issues-dev/msg01040.html

Target Management / RSE is the logical successor of this functionality, and should carry forward the features appreciated or needed by the community:
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/platform-team-dev/msg00229.html

This is tentatively planned for the next release after TM 2.0, and we'd appreciate community help on it.

Note that completing the full story depends on bug 185921 and bug 185925.

Questions (before I vote this):
- Does this include the "upload" functionality that one can do with a right mouse click (whether via team sync or other places of menu) which will upload the selected file to a linked remote system?
- The field "Version" of this "bug" says 2.0. Since 3.x is already out, shouldn't this field be changed or is there another bug for this?

As per bug 311859, there seems to be fresh interest in an Eclipse Webdav connector in the e4 Semantic File System (SFS) project.
