Build ID: TPTP-4.4.0-200705021157 Steps To Reproduce: 1.Right click on Logs in the Log Navigator 2.You will see a menu item "Unload Profiling Data" 3. This menu item makes no sense for the RCP-LA and should be removed from the context menu. More information:
Selecting this menu item causes the Log View to go blank. After that, there is no way to display the log event data again unless the log view is closed and reopened. This menu item serves no purpose and should be removed.
I have to agree that this menu item shouldn't be in the RCP or at least the name should be changed. The initial purpose of this action was to unload agents (both profiling and logging) from memory and reload from workspace. So if you have logs that you haven't saved this action would unload them from memory freeing up memory. I believe this would be a useful action in the RCP but the name would need to be changed.
Selectin this menu item causes the Log View to become unusable. The view has to be closed before it can be used again. This needs to be fixed if you rename this menu item and leave it in.
This is raised by downstream product as critical and to be included in TPTP 4.0. As a result, I am retargeting to i4 for consideration.

I agree with Alex that this function should not be removed from the RCP-LA. It is useful functionality in both the Eclipse and RCP environments. I am changing this defect to fix the label to make it more generic to cover the log data case. However, PII is frozen now and I don't consider this a stop ship issue to request an emergency PII change. This bugzilla will be deferred. A new defect will be opened to address the problems with view stability after using this functionality.
I opened bugzilla 189736 for the Log View stability problem.
This is not required from AC perspective.
Malcom, please close this defect as it is no longer required
