Description Kai Hofmann CLA 2007-03-06 04:51:22 EST
Hello,

I would like to suggest a usability enhancement for working with the search/file feature.
Often I am searching for some things through the complete source of a project (Java, C, C++, PHP) by the Search/File function.
Then I have to go trough all (or a lot) of the found positions by using the "Show next match" and "show previous match" arrows (on top of the search result).
So now very often I have to go into the "full screen" mode of the editor by double clicking on editor.
It would be nice to have the both small next/previous match arrows also available when the editor window is expanded and the search area is not visible.

There are changes in the 3.3 presentation that will allow you to have the Editor maximized and still use the search view as a 'fast view'...

If you're on 3.3 M5 or later you might want to give it a try...

Search view as fast view.

The fast view of Eclipse 3.3 is nice, but takes away some space of the full screen editor.
I would still suggest to have ONLY the previous/next arrows in the bootom line or on the right side - like the "Show view as fast view" button itself.
Thats possible, because when going through search results - all results will be displayed in the same editor (tab).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
