Observed: The automatic scrolling of the horizontal scrollbar in the Console view when the line of text is longer than the horizontal capacity of the view is quite a distraction. The scrollbar quickly scrolls back and forth depending on the output and makes it hard to read the information scrolling by. In addition, the scrollbar does not return to the left-most position unless it absolutely has to (all lines > horizontal capacity have scrolled off the view vertically) thus I have to use the mouse to restore its position. Enhancement request: Make auto scrolling of the horizontal scrollbar a user toggleable preference as it applies to the Console view. On a more global scale, allow the preference to preside over all/subset of views with similar behavior (Ant console, CVS output, etc)
Defer until after release 2.0 where UI will be reviewed for enhancements.
Plan is to use debug console view. If it is still a problem at that time, please reopen. Note: new external tool work is not yet released to the head stream and won't for a while yet.
This has not been fixed and should not have been closed.
The debug console is now used, but we do not plan to address the horizontal scrolling issue for 2.1
Horizontal scrolling no longer occurs. It is possible to lock out vertical scrolling as well using the toolbar "Scroll Lock" action. Closing.
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported. Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
