3.3 M5 I'm not sure if the current behavior is influenced if the project is shared in a repository or not. However, if I rename a project it would be handy if there would be an option to rename the external location directory too (if the project name matches the last path segment).
See bug 28930 for a similar discussion.

I think this RFE is difficult to fix because an external project is not stored in folder named after the project, but in folder pointed by the user. I'd even say that initally project name is out-of-sync with project folder, and that's the reason why the name cannot be changed on 'Rename'. If the project is in workspace, than it has to have the same name -> the problem of syncing does not exists. This could be achieved by assuring that during project creation new project is created in project-specific directory even if external. Then rename could change the project folder if and only if was it the same as project name. (check the attachment for a vision).

No, I don't think that the external location should be limited. My original request is sufficient. There just needs to be an option in the rename dialog to rename the external location directory as well. Nothing else is needed here. There could be a warning if the project name does not match the last path segment but AFAIK that's not required, because this options acts like a forced sync.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
