when the example alf project is first imported "Application Status" reports a "failure to connect to server" error (not sure if that is the exact wording)
performing an undeploy and redeploy of the event-action map seems to fix the condition.

Possible could be the server is in the Startup Time (ie) the server might be coming up.

I am reasonably sure it is not the server but some state in eclipse.

This problem appears to be resolved.  Possibly it was related to the bug where and error was reported when the deployment list was empty which is now fixed
