Workbench > Text Editors
When "Text Editor" is maximized, it could be useful to be able to reorganize its tabs without restoring it to its original size.

We've been working on a totally new min/max story for 3.3. See bug 153957 for details. You can access it by changing the presentation to the 3.3 Presentation (Experimental) under Preferences->General->Appearance...

One of the its features is that you can do far more work without having to 'restore' the workbench (including arranging the editor's tabs...).
