The Mac file selector displayed shows a tremendous number of files which shouldn't be shown under the UI standards of the Mac platform. In particular, it shows a whole lot of "dot files", cluttering the list. This makes navigation much more tedious. If you really need to provide an option to edit somebody's .bash_profile or whatever, then please give users an option (via an element inside the file selector) to show these files, and have it default to off.
We are using the platform file selector as is. Do you have any idea of how to set these filters?
Every other Mac program I use filters out files starting with '.'. How is the platform file selector different than what other apps (including Finder) are using?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
