Description Jörg Thönnes CLA 2006-11-07 16:47:08 EST
It should be possible to create different key binding profiles in the same way as the Java Code Formatter dialog.

In this way, it would be possible to save changed key bindings and distribute them easily (import/export). This is much easier than writing a plugin.

You can already update your user keybindings and Export/Import them from the preferences dialog.

Does this not work for you?

Hi Paul,

sorry for the delayed response...

I just found the "Export..." function, but no import. Actually, the idea to make the keybindings dialog more similiar to other dialogs (ie formatting profile) came up as I talked to Tobias Widmer at the JAX-W conference in Munich. He said you are reworking all the key stuff at the moment and it would be a good idea to file a RFE to make these things look like the other profile dialogs.

Cheers, Jörg

It's actually File>Export...>Preferences and File>Import...>Preferences

You can restrict both of them to "Keys preferences".

The new keys preference page is shipped with 3.3, but doesn't have any import/export buttons on it. I would consider patches if available.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
