I believe this one is for Jerome.
Anything new about this? It looks really bad !!! Regards from Oyvind F
It seems that this is a problem related to the documentation and not a bug in the source code.
Hi Ovind, Because we are pressed with time, to fix this problem, please unbold the special characters "Åpne" and return the files to us. Please look at the screenshots that I've attached. To Jerome, This is a problem with Eclipse not being able to handle bold characters for Norway. Please look into this.
Created attachment 48712 [details] Quick fix by unbolding the word
Because we are pressed with time, to fix this problem, please unbold the special characters "?pne" and return the files to us. Please look at the screenshots that I've attached.
It is not very wise for a TC to change the coding in the files. It should be done by lab. There are about 145 places we need to change, and that is too much and too risky. So we will not change anything now. But please, have a look at this problem and see if you can do something in the next release. Either change the font or make the line a little higher. Thank you Regards from Oyvind Fjellhoy
In the documentation, any widgets in the UI are supposed to be bolded to distinguish them from the non-widget words in the documentation. The font is determined by the .css file that is shipped and used by more teams than TPTP. We would have to request that everyone change the conventions in order to meet your request. Thus, we cannot make either of the requested changes (remove bold or change the font in the .css). That said, you said that, "This is a problem with Eclipse not being able to handle bold characters for Norway." If this is a known problem with the base Eclipse platform, or base Eclipse Help platform, then this defect should be returned as a duplicate of that defect because once that defect is fixed then this problem will be fixed as well. Please identify the bugzilla number so that we can return this defect as a duplicate. Otherwise the only thing that we can do is check to see if there are newer versions of the .css files that don't have this problem. If the .css files are up-to-date then we will return this bugzilla as WONTFIX.
Created attachment 49447 [details] NL version of the .css file (cannot be used with an English plug-in) I checked into the .css files to ensure that we're using the latest version and found out that if a language has a problem with this common .css file then that language has to substitute a different version of the .css into the plug-in. I've attached the NL version of the .css file (which cannot be used in an English plug-in). Please update the Norwegian plug-in by replacing the .css file with this attachment.
Reassigning to Kit Lo because I don't create the fragments and can't update the Norwegian fragment to use the attached .css file.
Warning: Unable to attach swg_info_common.css due to unsupported extension (css) on the filename.
Karice, please have the platform team take a look to see if there is anything they could do to correct the problem. Thanks, Kit
Curtis, does Help use the fonts provided by JFace?
Created attachment 49533 [details] pic of same character in platform help book Perhaps the css file needs to be looked at? The same character displays ok in one of the platform's help pages.
The help window, which is essentially a Shell with IE embedded inside it on windows, uses whatever font you put in your CSS. It is very likely that you will see the exact same problem if you post this doc somewhere on the web and point IE to it. The problem may lie in: - IE. Try changing preference Help -> Use external browser on a machine with Firefox default to check. - Broken HTML/CSS that IE doesn't tolerate well. Try validating the HTML to check. If that doesn't work check the CSS font styles for any strangeness. - The font being used doesn't show well at that size with bold.
Kit, do you have a status update on this defect?

Please target this defect to 4.4.
Please target to 4.4 and review the priority according to http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/bugzilla.html.
ACTION ITEM: Please target to 4.4 and review the priority according to http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/documents/process/development/bugzilla.html by the end of 4.3 i3 (Friday, November 3, 2006).
Reassigning to the project lead for tracking with Kit.
Deferring to i3 since update required in the product documentation.
As mentioned in comment #10 and commnet #17, this problem is a rendering issue for bolded Norwegian text. As specified by the Eclipse conventions, bolded text is required for referencing widgets in documentation. To verify, try changing preference "Windows -> Preferences -> Help -> Use external browser on a machine with Firefox" default.
Reporter: Please verify and close in preparation for shutting down the TPTP 4.4 release. Thanks.
Closing by default since not closed by the originator in the 7+ months since being resolved. Please reopen if the issue is still present in the latest TPTP release or the resolution is not correct.
