It seems that the Available Content tab (in the Available Customizations dialog of the Common Navigator) is intended to show all contributions to the navigator in the order they will actually appear in the navigator.  While it is extremely useful for Eclipse contributors to be able to see the order that their extension will appear in the Common Navigator (relative to other contributions), this sorting is not at all very useful at all to the average user who is only interested in quickly finding and (en|dis)abling a particular contribution...  

I suggest adding a sort option (radio buttons above the list) to this dialog for sorting alphabetically and for sorting as the content will actually appear in the navigator.  Since most users are not contributors to the navigator, I also suggest that alphabetical sorting be the default option on this dialog.  Naturally, these options only affect the Available Content list and must be worded carefully to avoid implying that this is a setting which will affect the presentation of the navigator itself.
