I started M5 with a clean workspace and checked out my projects from the repository. (CVS NT 1.11.1.3) (Sun JDK 1.4) I created some changes and committed. When i chose "Tag as Version...", it performed all steps and everything seems ok. When i go to the "CVS Repository Exploring" perspective the version shows up under "versions". But all earlier versions created with the previous version of eclipse does not show up (The still exist in the repository through wincvs). I click to expand the project with the version, and click to expand the first dir. (MyProject\com\) Then i get an alert-box saying something went wrong on "update" and that the server did not provide any details. When exploring the status of the project with WinCVS there is no mention of my new tag. The new tag has not been entered to the repository. However other "version tags" are present there, but they are not visible in the "Repository Exploring" perspective inside Eclipse. It seems to me Eclipse is unable to read or write the tags from the repository.
The problem is not that Eclipse can't read versions. The problem is that there is a CVSNT bug that causes the connection to be dropped if your are performing an update on a tag for a folder that contains folders but no files. P.S. You can get earlier versions using Configure Tags... which is available from the context menu of a repository location in the repository view.
CVSNT not officially supported, and this bug is actually in the cvs client. For these reasons no workaround planned for 2.0.
Reopening so this bug will appear in the help wanted query

With the latest build of CVSNT (1.11.1.3 build 57i) this seems to work
