The name for a wizard contributed through org.eclipse.ui.newWizards is used by both the New > Other... dialog box and the New menu. If I try to put an & in the name to create a menu mnemonic, the & shows up in the dialog box as well. Eclipse should automatically strip the & before showing the name in the dialog box.
Sounds like you want to specify your own mnemonic in the New menu. This is not currently allowed - it seems to just pick the first letter for items in the new menu. This is a feature request, not a bug.

This is a feature request, not a bug. I'm not seeing mnemonics on any of the wizards in the New menu (either the ones I've contributed or the built-in "Folder" and "File" wizards), which is why I want to specify one manually. I mis-set the version when I filed this bug--I'm using 3.1.2. Did the mnemonics get added in 3.2?
Created attachment 38029 [details] screen cap of new menu mnemonics I see mnemonics in the New menu when I do Alt + F + N
The mnemonics on the shortcut menu items (the ones that have the mnemonic added automatically to the first letter) is a new thing in 3.2. In 3.1.2 you cannot add mnemonics to the shortcut menu items (since they are re-used in the tree when you select Other).

Prakash is now responsible for watching bugs in the [Wizards] component area.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
