Description Albert Almajano CLA 2006-03-09 10:20:00 EST
Hi,

I have installed BIRT 2.0.1 in eclipse 3.1.2 under linux Ubuntu Hoary. I can switch to BIRT perspective but instead of a palette, I see a message like "A palette is not available"

Thanks

This is likely because you have not create a report, the palette content is only available after you have create a report.

But I think it is a good enhancement to always shows the palette item list even when not report is being edited, and when the editor is in preview mode and XML source mode. Since the report items list represents designer wide report item types not properties or objects belong to a report design. Many user might just want to see what are the report items types in BIRT before starting to create reports.

By eclipse GEF framekwork, a palette view must associate with an opening editor. I don?t think we can have global palette base on our current understanding.
