Description Andrew Ferguson CLA 2006-03-03 10:28:32 EST
hi,

when editing a working set, the resources shown are not filtered by the current perspectives filtering mechanism. It would be good if you could toggle whether this filter was applied, with the default being that it was?

thanks,
Andrew

What do you mean by "current perspectives filtering mechanism"?
Comment 2 Andrew Ferguson CLA 2006-03-08 13:11:50 EST
hi Kim,

sorry, that is a bit vague. I'm not sure how clear cut you could make this, but the JDT, CDT and default perspectives each have their respective viewers (Package Explorer, C/C++ Projects and Navigator). These Views each seem to have their own filter dialog, and list of things to filter out.

It would be great if these filters were available on the same projects when selecting a working set.

Maybe rather than the 'current perspectives (respective view's) filtering mechanism' applying to the working set, you could somehow determine the filtering mechanism associated with the projects being selected from?

thanks,
Andrew

"filtering mechanism associated with the projects" was meant to convey

i) Project X has a Java Nature
ii) JDT has a Package Explorer
iii) Package Explorer's filtering mechanism filters out ABC
iv) Display project X filtered under ABC in the Working Set selection dialog

(I understand that unless there is a more defined way of getting at a 'filtering mechanism' than (ii) and (iii), then this might not be a reasonable request)

I read of plans for a unified resource navigator, maybe this could be implemented more easily atop of that?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
