When I start up Eclipse 3.2M4 on Windows XP, while the splash is shown and before the workbench is opened, there are two dialogs coming up saying "The file has been changed on the file system. Do you want to load the changes?", and I need to click OK before startup proceeds. What ever the reason is that these dialogs are opened before the workbench is shown and the splash is taken down, the problem is that the splash will obscure these dialogs completely when I switch to other windows applications during startup. That will give the Eclipse startup the appearance of hanging without reason, though it's just a dialog waiting for input. Would it be possible that the user can drap the splash around, so that hidden dialogs can be uncovered?
Sorry, that's not "drap the splash around" but *drag* the splash around, of course...
Can you see if there is anything in your .metadata/.log file that might explain the dialogs?
Another interesting question - were there entries in the task bar for the dialogs, or was there no indication of the dialogs at all?
(In reply to comment #3) Interestingly, there is no icon in the taskbar, but there is one in the task switching list shown on Alt-Tab. I can use that to activate the dialog, so I don't need to kill the eclipse process.
Reassigning bugs to reflect changes in ownership.
Prakash is now responsible for watching bugs in the [WorkbenchLauncher] component area.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
