Description Andrey Loskutov CLA 2005-11-30 06:58:17 EST
Please add a "search in opened files" option/scope to the <Ctrl+H> Search dialog.

Currently the user is able to choose between
workspace || selected resources || enclosing projects || working set
scopes. I propose to add the "opened files" scope to the radio button list.

This feature is very usual in text editors like UltraEdit, and could be easily implemented in Eclipse, because workbench knows about all opened editors.

This feature was requested in bug 108223, but the bug 108223 contains much more enhancements and is a bit too general.

Additionally, I don't know if it could be a good proposal to the "Halo Feature Challenge", as described in http://canuck.gda.itesm.mx/eclipsezilla/show_bug.cgi?id=113

This job is small, "Platform" - related and could be fixed in one/half day session by a small developers team.

We currently don't know what files an editor works with. Editors are contributed by plugins (not known to search) and can work on a file, multiple files or no file, extrenal files (not known to search) or just on a part of a file.
