Do File > Import > File System and select a plugins directory with lots of 
plugins (about 360).  If I start checking the directory for each plugin, one by 
one, each time i select one directory it takes 2-3 secs to complete.  This 
seems too slow.

The performance issue was fixed in Bug # 216901
