I use the keyboard a lot and therefore make lots of use of the keyboard shortcuts. It would be really nice to have "Go To... -> Resource" mapped to ctrl-shift-O or something like that. It is a lot quicker than ctrl-shift-T and also allows you to open editors on non-java files.
This action is specific to the Navigator view. Views do not add items to the main menu, which is the only way of getting an accelerator. JDT defines a separate action set for the Open Type action. I'm reluctant to do the same for Open Resources for 2.0. This is the sort of thing that would be addressed by allowing keybinding customization (post 2.0). Currently you can use <menu key>,O,R to get this if the Navigator is active. If not, you can use Ctrl+F7 to switch to Navigator.
Reopen to investigate
This request has nothing to do with the action set framework.
Ctrl+shift+T is open type not Go To type. There is no Open Resource menu item although there is/was a request for it (bug 11008). Please clarify whether you want an Open Resource menu with accelerator key or Go To->Resource added to the Navigate menu. Note that the current Go To menu items do not have accelerator keys. It seems like you would rather have an Open Resource menu item.
What I am looking for is a keyboard shortcut for the Goto -> Resource which is currently available on the Navigator. Basically something which will allow me to open an editor on any resource in the workspace.
Marking as duplicate of bug 11008. If bug 11008 is fixed you will be able to open any resource by pressing the accelerator keys (tentatively Ctrl+Shift+R). This is better than what you were originally asking for because you don't even have to double click the file/hit enter. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 11008 ***
