Description Peter Burka CLA 2002-02-28 16:45:32 EST
In the 20020215 stable build, the recent file list moved from the File menu
proper to a sub menu of the File menu.

I use these menu items very frequently, and find that the extra navigation
required to get to them slows down my navigation.

This also seems to be inconsistent with the standard Windows UI model. Most
apps place the file history directly on the File drop down.

If you believe that the list is too long for the file menu, why not place the
first n (5 maybe?) on the main menu, and then have a 'More' submenu.

Having the recent files as a top level item in the menu has several problems:

   - It makes the menu significantly larger
   - Unless you truncate the file names the menu is much wider (and uglier)
       - Significant truncation doesn't work either because it
         removes useful information.
   - Mnumonics can help:
        Alt F, O , <1..n>
