This can be so much, but support for OLAP queries, OLAP cube visualization and Olap data access to a couple of big vendors Oracle OLAP: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/olap/index.html Microsoft BI software: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/bi/bianalysis.asp I think this is needed to really get into the BI part of the BIRT name...
It would be nice if something like a mondrian control would integrate with BIRT http://mondrian.sourceforge.net/ Mondrian is released under CPL license.
Is there any progress on the development support for consuming olap cubes from olap servers within birt/eclipse? Thanks, Jack
In BIRT 2.2.0, we will introduce a data cube data set that can be visualized by a crosstab. Chart visulaization of the data cube is being researched but might not fix into the time frame. This will lay a foundation for cube data access from other olpa data source, potentially an extension to ODA (MD ODA).
Support of data cube that can be created from ODA data sets is added in 2.2.0. Keep this bug open to support olap/cube data source, including Mondrian, ODA framework in future release.
