Thanks for the suggestion, I posted a similar question on the openHAB forum previously and just refreshed the question for 2.1.

WRT ESH and different OSGi containers...what is the default that the project uses? Equinox? Actually, does ESH have a public target platform?

ESH is the Framework (a collection of OSGi bundles) and used by the
open source project openHAB.
openHAB is using Karaf for the runtime container.
Other (proprietary) solutions based on ESH are using different OSGi
runtimes, containers, ...

So perhaps you should add a comment to the openHAB Community forum.
