Re: [science-iwg] SWG face-to-face meeting in 2017

Thanks for the update.

So would this be a "Science day" kind of event tied to the actual conference or still be a SWG face-to-face that those involved in Science could attend without a full conference pass?

>So yes, it may require to be a full week in Toulouse.
>Jean-Marie is indeed very busy, but if we tell him in advance that you will be there, I?m sure he >can find some time to meet you again.

I am only director of my own company, but thus also a bit busy in most cases;-) Except the rare case of e.g. JavaOne with related JCP EC F2F meetings, I practically never find an entire week or 10 days to join a single event. So can't promise anything, though the unconference was great and I attended that twice (actually in 2014 I got a pass for "small businesses" or similar so I was there for most ot ECF, but this year it simply would not work especially so close to JavaOne)

Regards,

Werner

Hello,

We planned to make it apart from the Unconference (the day before) to not have an overlap for people who have to attend things at Unconference (e.g. I may have to participate to some Polarsys discussions).
So yes, it may require to be a full week in Toulouse.
Jean-Marie is indeed very busy, but if we tell him in advance that you will be there, I?m sure he can find some time to meet you again.

Alain

Hi,
This sounds great. Will this be part of an Unconference day like at ECE in October as it says
"before the EclipseCon France 2017"?
I was able to join the F2F on the ECE Unconference day, but unless I had e.g. a talk in the main conference I doubt any customer will allow me too many days off (and being in Java programm committee for DWX'17 in the last week of June I also could have a day or two there)
If he's not too busy it would also be awesome to meet Jean-Marie again who works at Airbus and joined another Science F2F in Toulouse 2 years ago.
Kind Regards,

Werner

Hello Science Working Group,

A few weeks ago, Tracy sent me a message for next year's face-to-face meeting of the Science Working Group and asked me whether such a meeting can be hosted by Airbus.
Pending a few approvals, it seems that it will be perfectly feasible! We plan to organize it just before the EclipseCon France 2017, on June 19th.

We will work on the details next year but before that, I just wanted to have a feeling of how much people could be interested in such an event. The agenda of the day will be very simple: meeting of the SWG in the morning in Airbus' offices, lunch and (normally) a visit of one of our final assembly lines during the afternoon!
Please note that there will be obviously some security rules and I will require some information from all attendees (name, company, passport scan, date and country of birth, etc.)

Would you enjoy one more day of sunny weather in Toulouse before ECF? :)

Best regards,

Alain BERNARD

Hello,

I wanted to draw people's attention to the fact that Diamond Light Source is hiring Java and Python developers, the vacancies are on this page:
http://www.diamond.ac.uk/Careers/Vacancies.html

The salaries are good, there is an international relocation package available and very attractive pension.

We are going to be advertising more in the new year for these positions so get a march on the competition and apply before Christmas!

Cheerio,

Matt
