Re: [rt-pmc] Jetty 10 Release Review

I assume this is the Servlet version from Jakarta EE 8 and we still look forward to a Jetty release that supports the future Jakarta EE 9 package name changes for javax.servlet.  But as of now, the Jetty 10 release still supports the javax.servlet packages.

Thomas, to answer these specific questions ...
  • Eclipse Jetty 10.x is for Jakarta Servlet 4.0 - using the artifacts/license from the Jakarta EE 8 effort and javax.servlet namespace,  what this release review is about.
  • Eclipse Jetty 11.x is for Jakarta Servlet 5.0 - (a future release that we have on our roadmap) using the Jakarta EE 9 effort and jakarta.servlet namespace. (a future release review)
  • Eclipse Jetty 12.x is theoretical ATM - Most likely for Jakarta Servlet 5.1 and utilizing the desperately needed changes in the Servlet API that everyone that cares about the Servlet API is waiting to actually do.  This Eclipse Jetty release is tentatively scheduled to attempt to have a single release that supports legacy javax.servlet AND jakarta.servlet on the same container.  We are waiting to see what the desire is for this, as the desire for Servlet 4.0 was pretty much non-existent from the community.

Correct?  If so I would simply update the release record to indicate the Jakarta EE version that you support.  It may make it more clear, at least to me.
