Hi Chen,

If we want to prepare SnipMatch well for EclipseCon 2012 before 15 March, i think it is impossible. If just supply a demo, i can try my best to do it.

Demo would be great. I think for a release would be too much hurry which is not required yet. But we should have a plan when a first release of snipmatch should be ready for the public. It should be early enough to allow the package owners of JDT, PDE and the like to decide whether they would like to integrate Snipmatch into their packages and should satisfy a certain quality threshold. Doug, Chen, planning that is your part ;)

This demo works like this:

1. User input search text in editor
2. SnipMatch search local JSON snippets, then get search result. In the search progress, i can supply only simple string compare algorithm, and i need your Lucene based search engine got ready.
3. User can insert snippet into current editor.

But i can not promise other features (such as all the preference setting, sync with remote server etc) works well.

Check!  That's exactly what I would like to see for EclipseCon. Glad that this fits my understanding of what is possible in two weeks. Regarding the search: Let me know when you are ready to integrate with Lucene. It will probably take me two days to make it work smoothly with you file system storage.

Thanks,
Marcel

Hi all,

EclipseCon NA is approaching and I start to assemble the content for this 30' session in the next days. You find the announcement here http://www.eclipsecon.org/2012/sessions/eclipse-code-recommenders-code-completion-steroids

It would also be great, if we could release Recommenders v0.6 in parallel to EclipseCon 2012 with the latest performance improvements and new models. As a big bonus, it would be great if we'd have prototypes of SnipMatch and Codesearch ready for the demo and could start announcing them to the people. Since I'm involved in Codesearch, I'm sure that it will be ready for EclipseCon. How about Snipmatch? Chen, what do you think? Will the version with a local (preinstalled) git repository based on Lucene work for demo purpose? I think it does not need to support any CRUD operations but it should work locally without hassle.

Doug, Chen, what's your estimate? What can be done until, say, 15th March (to have a few days for testing and fixing critical bugs)?

Thanks,
Marcel
