Re: [recommenders-dev] Fwd: [Bug 372378] New: Recommenders may leak private information

I am not a Rcommenders committer yet, may be i have no right to reply Wayne's questions in this issue, but i think Wayne really gave much good advises for client-server module in Recommenders, for example, SnipMatch.

Wayne said:
Given that Recommenders is in the packages, it will end up on a lot of
desktops; is your server prepared to respond a bajillion requests?
And
Can an adopter direct the requests to an alternate address? e.g. if an
organization wants to leverage the Recommenders API to provide their own
recommendations in a custom plug-in for their own employees, can they?

These problems exist in SnipMatch's current version, fortunately our current design will improve these points, supply more free choices for users.

Hi all (Doug, Johannes, and Sebastian in particular),

please add yourself in cc on this issue about privacy. Please help sorting out what's needed for server side to make the tools work and which policies may be good for all. I'm unfortunately out-of-office until Tuesday now and will not have internet the next days.

Thanks,
