[mosquitto-dev] mosquitto_loop_stop after disconnect callback?

If I start a mosquitto async connection and then mosquitto_loop_start() and then 
get a disconnection callback am I still supposed to call mosquitto_disconnect() 
before mosquitto_loop_stop()?
