I’ll only make one more comment on this subject. It appears there are different measures of the size of the Eclipse community. Many of us here on the ide-dev list are counting users, 6 million by certain counts, not sure how accurate that is. And the list
of packages used to be ranked by that number.
The board has decided to promote diversity instead (despite earlier overtures of focusing on users). Diversity is a reasonable thing to show off if you’re trying to grow the community so I can’t argue it much.
We’ve long discussed that the Eclipse IDE needs it’s own web presence. We’ve been too busy trying to fix up the IDE to have any focus on that. But at the end of the day, that’s where we need to go.
