Re: [xtext-dev] 0.7.1, 0.7.2 and 0.8.0

Hi Peter,

thanks for starting that. I've updated it a bit.

I removed the last bullet point:

"As one can understand a new feature as a bug against the upcoming version, I think it would be appropriate to mark new feature requests for Xtext 0.8 as version = 0.8.0 and selecting the appropiate target milestone (e.g. M1 if the new feature is to be developed in the first iteration) "

Because IMHO this is an unnecessary special case. Also for enhencements it is sufficient to state the version with which the wish first arised. I want only committers to state when a particular feature / bug should be fixed. With a separation between target milestone and version this is always clear.

I ultimately would like to have one page where all the process information can be found. I'll start working on that right after my vacation (20th July - 3rd August). At that point we'll hopefully also know how our new development infrastructure looks like.

Cheers,
Sven

Hi all,

I created a page outlining how to file bugs (still needs some work, but I wanted to get it going) at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Xtext/Bugzilla . I will add info on how to create Mylyn queries to allow for easy planning and tracking (for those who like to use Mylyn to access Bugzilla).

I would like to recommend we move the "get involved" pages (http://www.eclipse.org/Xtext/developers/ and subpages) back to the wiki, as we likely need to work a bit on them in the next few days and weeks.

Hi all,

*0.7.1*

tomorrow we're releasing the first bugfix release (0.7.1). It contains a lot of nice fixes and I'm sure that we're able to improve
usability and accessibility with it. Thanks to all contributers.

The release will be published (or promoted) to the release update sites at eclipse. In addition we will create a composite P2 repository at itemis which points to those repositories and therefore makes updating as easy as possible. Also Galileo+ will automatically know about the update and of course we'll provide a distro at itemis.

*0.8.0 Planning*

On August 5th we (the committers) are having a face-to-face meeting in Kiel at the itemis office. In that meeting we'll discuss and plan the upcoming release plan. A list of ideas can be found in the wiki (http://wiki.eclipse.org/Xtext/planning_0.8.0). Please add stuff to it but don't spread it, it is just brain storming and lacks a lot of explanation. Users can as always file wished enhancements in the bugzilla.

*0.7.2*

After the 0.7.1 bugfix release has been released we want to have another bugfix release 0.7.2. Its release date is *Friday, August 7th* (at least if noone has a problem with that). Like for 0.7.2 we tag issues by flagging them using the target milestone property in the bugzilla. Of course it is *SR2* now.

*build and development infrastructure*
Starting next week Sebastian and Dennis will focus on creating and cleaning up the build and development infrastructure. So hopefully we'll have a nicer infrastructure for 0.8.0. We also consider switching to SVN.

As always: Feel free to comment and discuss.

Cheers,
Sven
