I spoke with Sam and Gabriel at eclipsecon, and it's a high priority
item to get done. Will need to pull in some resources from the main
WTP team to help figure out the best way to extend or enhance the
existing XML support to also include XQuery and Xpath support.
That bug is very much targeted to be worked on, and any help that can
be provided would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,
I finally got time to look at the link you have provided below. The
last comment was made at the end of last year. Since then, do you know
if there has been any progress on this work? Are you the only person
driving the effort?
Eventually I'm interested in helping migrating XQDT to use SSE (if this
is the general direction agreed by the team) and to implement new
features like the one described in the bug #297652.
Just let me know how I can help.
Thanks!
Lionel

The way it is viewed is to model the approach that the
PDT Project at eclipse took with WTP's HTML editor. The editor would be
an extension of the XML Editor with the ability to read XQuery. The
debugging framework would more than likely still be provided by DLTK,
but the editor provided by SSE. So it's a hybrid of the two projects.

I'm currently looking at integrating the WAS thin
client FEP for XML into XQDT. More on this later on...
Thanks
Lionel.

Lionel,
There is an open bug for this.

There is some initial work being done there, but contributions are
always welcomed.

This seems like a great idea to me.
For some reason, I could not find any response from the XQuery team on
this mailing list. (hint hint :)
Dear XQDT developers,
I got very interested in using XQDT for writing my XQueries and even
more interested in thinking of what could be done to make it more
powerful. So I've started to look at the plugin dependencies and
noticed that it XQDT is based upon DLTK. I was surprised since the
other XML editor (XML, XML Schema, XSL) are all based on SSE. So my
question is why choosing DLTK versus SSE? Would it be a problem to
integrate XQDT to the other X* editors? For instance, in the debugging
view, it would be valuable to synchronize the XQuery view with the XML
view.
Thanks!
