Mike,
Thank you. I will try to start testing as
much as I can, just trying to help out.
The thing with Skype is, once you upgrade,
it is hard to find a trustworthy/reliable source to download previous versions.

I would love to give Alex Zhang a fix, but I have not worked
out all the issues yet. The main issue with Skype version change was the
launcher code did not recognize the start of the Skype phone call. That causes
it to hang and eventually give an error dialog about not connecting in 60
seconds.
I have a fix for that, but now I find that the code is no
longer getting the log from Tellme. It may turn out to be just that I am so far
away out here across the ocean that something times out. I see that happen a lot
from Firefox when I try to access web pages in the US, and getting the log from Tellme
is nothing more than a series of HTTP requests. I have to investigate what is
going on with that.
Hmm, thinking on the fly as I write this, maybe I could
commit that fix and someone in the US could run a quick test. It will
be a good lesson for me as to how to accommodate the longer latency -- if that
turns out to be all it is.
If I check the fix in for the Skype connection (I have
tested it), can someone rev the daily build? Right now the daily build has not
been happening very daily. I will post to this list after I check in.
a) My committer account into CVS has been revived, and I can
check in/out.
b) I don't seem to be able to update bugzilla anymore.
Procedures say contact the PL, so I have.
c) Someone asked about the effect of Skype 3.0. I have
determined that Skype 2.5 and Skype 3.0 behave identically in all the aspects
that affect this operation.
d) I have only tested this fix with Eclipse 3.2.1. I can
make no comment about 3.3.0M4.

Actually I am just about to complain.
:>
I am using Eclipse 3.3.0M4, EVT
1.0.0, and Skype 3.0.0.198. And I followed the exact steps in the
“Getting Started” tutorial. When I click “Run”, I got
the status “Launching (50%)” for ever. I guess this is related
to the bug or a version incompatible issue.
Can anyone give me a working version
combination, including eclipse, wtp, vtp, and skype?
Thank you,

Back in August, reports were received that the VTP Tellme
browser launcher plugin did not work with Skype 2.5.
I figured out what the problem was and suggested a fix.
Brent went ahead and put that fix into the code and checked it in. The trouble
is that I was in the throes of retiring and leaving Tellme, and Brent was in
the throes of leaving IBM. I think we both got distracted, and the fix was not tested.
Well, it did not work, and still does not work.
I plan to fix it for real. But since I have been inactive
for about 6 months while I moved to New Zealand, my Eclipse accounts
have gone stale. I have to get that sorted.
Since there have been no complaints, I suppose this has not
been a heavily-used component ;-), but it is part of the project, and should
work.
