[tycho-dev] Tycho 2.4.0-SNAPSHOT tested successfully against Maven 3.8.1

Hi all,

Maven 3.8.1 was released yesterday.

We did run the Tycho build + test suite against 3.8.1 and didn't notice any issue: https://ci.eclipse.org/tycho/job/tycho-build-with-maven-snapshots/119/

We'll very soon switch all Tycho CI jobs to only use Maven 3.8.1, that means that Tycho will not notice issues against Maven 3.7.0 through automated suite. Also, don't expect much enthusiasm from some committers if you face issues with older Maven; most of us typically care only about latest release of dependencies and won't invest in investigating issues happening with outdated dependencies.

So the recommendation is that you start switching to Maven 3.8.1 ASAP, or to ensure you'll be ready to switch when you start adopting Tycho 2.4.0(-SNAPSHOT).
