Re: Fw: [technology-pmc] Help with ACTF initial commit

Upon trying Ed's suggestion below regarding logging into

https://dev.eclipse.org/committers/menu/menu.php,

with my CVS credentials, I got the folowing message:

It looks like you don't have access to edit any bugzilla components.
Talk to the PL or PMC of your project(s)

How do we resolve this?

Michael,

I've CC'd Nick because you might want to reuse EMFT's build and publishing infrastructure and hence you might want to follow his general guidelines.  Additional comments below.  If there's anything you need, just let me know.  Feel free to ping me on Sametime.  I'm available most of the time.

Michael, Bjorn would probably be the one answering this type of email, but he's not available right now. May I suggest that you ask your project mentors, Ed and Naci, for some guidance with this process? Thanks.

Hello:

I am not sure if this is the appropriate list for these questions, but I tried the Technology project's newsgroup and got no response. Please let me know if there are more appropriate places for such questions in the future.

The ACTF project wishes to make its first commit of source to CVS. I have already completed CQs for third-party components upon which this code will depend

(1849, 1850, 1809). However, I have some questions regarding our initial commit. Our initial commit will

include six plug-ins and a stand-alone RCP aplication which depends upon these plug-ins. The plug-ins are the first in a series to be committed as part

of the framework.

As I mentioned above, you might want to structure things in the way all the EMFT components are structuring themselves; Nick will send you links.

1. I was going to file a bug in bugzilla for the new components and the RCP application as suggested by the CQ process but the version combo box contains

only the item 'Unspecified.' Do we need to move through some other process prior to performing an initial commit? How do we introduce the initial version?

So the code you're going to commit has been reviewed and either approved completely or approved via parallel IP that you can commit it to CVS now?
The same problem holds for components. An initial set of components was apparently setup during our creation review, but how do we introduce an additional component and get it to appear in the components list?

From this page, https://dev.eclipse.org/committers/menu/menu.php, you should be able to manage your bugzilla components.  Use your CVS login, not your bugzilla account to log in.

2. When I file the CQ for the components and the RCP application, do I file one per plug-in and one for the app or is it sufficient to file one CQ for

the entire commit of six plug-ins together with the RCP app? Also, I take it that the attachment will include everything that will be committed to CVS

- source, resources, images, docs, legal, and build scripts.

Create a single zip file for all of them. Only thirty party libraries need to be separate out and filed as one CQ per library.
