RE: [stp-dev] STP 2.0.0 released to Galileo 3.5M7

Hi Oisin,

Great job!

Regarding issue 5 (org.eclipse.stp.common.validator plugin caused the build to hang): let me know if you need any help/support/updates from our side.

Regards,
Andrei.

Subject: [stp-dev] STP 2.0.0 released to Galileo 3.5M7

The STP build was submitted to Galileo earlier today (a day later than expected).

STP is now gone totally p2 - no more site.xml. There are a few outstanding issues with this current build that will need to be resolved between now and the RC1 build which is slated for May 20th.

1. packing was done manually -
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=275337
2. signing was done manually - no bug yet 3. automatic checkout from SVN failed - no bug yet 4. categories specification is not taking effect - no bug yet 5. plugin in Policy feature is causing a build system hang

The most important issue is (5) - the org.eclipse.stp.common.validator plugin caused the build to hang. As a result I've had to (temporarily) pull the policy code from the build until I can find out what is going on and fix it.

I'm expecting the solution for (1) to be made available for download in the near future.

(4) is not especially traumatic, as the Galileo build manages its own category approaches, but it needs to be fixed for our own builds

(3) again, not especially traumatic, just a nuisance, as a checkout has to happen before the build occurs, rather than during the build

(2) we can work with manually for the moment, until (1) is fixed and I can test the signing.

That's it. I haven't created bugs for most of these yet - more investigation is needed with thread dumps/patches/etc.

See http://download.eclipse.org/stp/updates/galileo for the p2 repository

On a positive note, the p2 build actions have cut out some rubbish that we used to have to do with the sites and specifying the content. I'll re-visit the current build approaches to make life simpler for all concerned once the pressure has reduced!

 cheers
