Hey folks.

The student application period begins today.

Eclipse committers: if you intend to be a part of the project selection process, I need you to send a note to emo@xxxxxxxxxxx with a request to be listed as a mentor.

Note that signing up now to be a mentor gives you the ability (without any actual commitment) to help with the vetting process of student applications. Signing up now does not commit you to mentor; you commit only after you volunteer to mentor a specific project (and then, only when that project is actually accepted by us and by Google). 

Students: Enter your project proposal when the Google site allows you to do so. AFAICT, it's not ready for you yet (I don't know specifically at what time the site will be open to accept your proposal; please be patient while our good friends at Google make this happen).
