[rdf4j-dev] initial contribution finally approved: getting ready for release

Hi folks,

We have received final legal approval of the RDF4J initial contribution to Eclipse, meaning that the parallel IP review process is now complete!

In concrete terms this means that we can start prepping our first official release (we've only done milestone builds sofar). Since this will be our first major release there will be a release review[1] as well. A release review, once initiated, takes about a week.

For most of you the formal side of the review is not something you need to worry too much about, except to make sure (as you already do, hopefully) that we're in the clear on the IP side of things (properly attributed, third party inclusions logged as such), and that the documentation is good to go. Nevertheless, have a quick look at the relevant sections in the Eclipse handbook to get a feel for what is going on.

I will need to spend some time on finalizing the last bits and pieces (see issue #245 for some last minor things), and on finalizing our release plan[2].

I want to submit the project for release review on *Wednesday, July 27*. If all goes well that will mean that we can launch our release on *Wednesday, August 3*.

Note that I although I say "release" we may in fact do two release reviews in parallel, for 2.0 and 1.0 respectively. I am currently investigating whether it's ok to do this or if we should perhaps do the reviews sequentially (2.0 first, the 1.0 backport a week later).

Cheers,

Jeen
