Re: [ptp-user] Can't select Connection Type in macos

Hi Dave,

The problem was this change didn't seem to fix the problem, and I still haven't worked out how to do it. I can't believe out of all the Eclipse packages we're the only one using jaxb. If anyone has time to look into it or knows of a solution, please help.

Regards,
Greg

I'm running into this same, or very similar problem with our product which uses PTP.from the Eclipse 2019-03 release. It fails with Java 11 and works with Java 8. I haven't tested yet with Java 9 or 10 yet but think it works there.

I found this bug report, https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=541264 where the fix was merged into the git repository on 2/20/19, but the timestamps for the PTP plugins in the Eclipse 2019-03 release are all 11/20/18 and I can't find anything more recent in Eclipse build/download pages or elsewhere.

Is there a plan for when this bug fix will be packaged?

Thanks
Dave

John,

You'll have switch back to Java 8 when running Eclipse. I've been trying to fix this problem for some time now, but still haven't managed to figure it out.

Greg

When I select a connection (either by clicking the Local radio button, or by clicking the Remote radio button and then selecting a remote connection), a dialog appears that reads “Launch Error: Provider com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.ContextFactory not found. Reason: com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.ContextFactory cannot be found by org.eclipse.ptp.rm.jaxb.core_1.2.0.201811201954.” If I then try to select the Application program under the Application tab, it says “Please specify remote connection first,” preventing me from configuring the application to run.
