Re: [ptp-user] ptp-user Digest, Vol 69, Issue 12 -Re:Eclipse Module System

Hello Greg,

With the regards to the last answer I got for the Eclipse Module System question, I will take the offer and request for more information about creating a custom configuration for Eclipse. I have tried Google and searched for making a custom configuration, but I can't seem to find any guide on making one. Can you possibly point me to a guide for creating the custom configuration that I need or explain how to make one?

Thanks,
Tien Ngo

Hi Jamil,

What path are you specifying for the 'Path to SDM executable' on the Debugger tab in the launch configuration?

Greg

Hi Antelmo,

You need to use the 'Grid Engine-Generic-Batch' target system type when creating a run configuration. This should work with most GE implementations. If you want to manually configure monitoring for GE, switch to the System Monitoring Perspective, and create a new monitor. For 'Monitor Type', choose 'Grid Engine'.

If this doesn't work for you system, you may need to import a configuration into your workspace, then customize the commands so they are correct. I can give you more information on this if necessary.

Regards,
Greg

I have looked in the documentation, but I have not seen any clear instructions on how to setup PTP with SGE, I have see some reference to how to set it up with PBS, but nothing about SGE. I would greatly appreciate some guidance in this issue.

Tien,

The only way to do this currently is to create a custom configuration in your workspace, then add something like:

<submit-interactive ?>
        <arg isUndefinedIfMatches=";">${ptp_rm:modules#value};</arg>
        <arg>qsub</arg>
        <arg>?other arguments?</arg>
        ?
</submit-interactive>

The ${ptp_rm:modules#value} variable will be replaced with the modules commands that have been specified through the Environment Management tab on the project properties.

Let me know if you'd like any further information.

Regards,
Greg

I was successful in making and building a MPI project with the module system on the server side, but I can't currently run it as a PBS generic batch without creating all of the environment variables by hand (in the run configurations> Parallel Application> Environment). Is there a way I can use the same module system from System Management for the run configurations so I don't have to type up all of the environment variables that is on the server side?
