I found that git is installed on newer linux distributions, as a matter of
course -
For instance on one of our clusters:

[jalameda@forge ~]$ which git
/usr/bin/git
[jalameda@forge ~]$

Sure I need to install the compilers, but must I install GIT on the
remote server ?
