Re: [ptp-user] unistalling ptp

Eclipse 3.5 stupidly caches way too much stuff from update sites in my opinion.
I think you're asking two things. Or one of two things.

To remove an update site from the update mangler [sic],
click on the link right under the "Add..." button that says "Available Update Sites".
Remove it.
THEN close the update manager. Then reopen it (Help >Install New Software...)
Sometimes I even close eclipse and relaunch it with -clean if i get paranoid.
Now, if the update site contains different info that the first one, you should see it.

To uninstall features, in the Update manager, near the bottom on the dialog, there is a
link that says "what is Already Installed?" Click on that, and follow your nose to see what's
installed, select something, and click the "Uninstall..." button at the bottom.
It should ask you to restart eclipse after it's done, which I would definitely do.

If all else fails, unzip or untar a new eclipse and start with that.
Note that you can use the same workspace with the new eclipse installation.
You shouldn't have to do this, but I'm giving you more options. :-)

[ptp-user] unistalling ptp

I attempted to install ptp (for a new computer) and mistakenly told it
to install the RDT-related package.  It complained about the RDT
server dependency not being installed and didn't finish the
installation.  When I go back to try to "Install New Software" (ptp,
from my local .zip archive) again, this time skipping the RDT-thingy,
I get an error "Duplicate location" on the Add Site panel.  Not
finding an easy "uninstall" procedure, I manually deleted all ptp-
related .jar/dirs in my eclipse/plugins dir.  What's the proper way to
do this?

thanks, Randy
