Rocky,
When I send patches to PTP using git in command line I first
configure the change-id (just need to do one time) using the
following command inside PTP repository folder:
scp -p -P 29418 <user>@git.eclipse.org:hooks/commit-msg
.git/hooks/
To send patches I use:
git push
ssh://<user>@git.eclipse.org:29418/ptp/org.eclipse.ptp
HEAD:refs/for/master
Maybe this can help you.

Hi Greg,
I have my HTTP password set up in the Gerrit settings and
those are the credentials I am using for the push. Does my
username need to be authorized in some way? This would be my
first push to any Gerrit repo.
Pushing to master gives this:
Repository https://rdunlapmqd@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/r/ptp/org.eclipse.remote
prohibited by Gerrit
Branch refs/heads/master:
You are not allowed to perform this operation.
To push into this reference you need 'Push' rights.

I only use ssh, but what is
the message you’re getting? Make sure you’ve set your http
password in the Gerrit settings.
Greg,
What is the URL of the Gerrit repo that I
push the change to for org.eclipse.remote?

Rocky,
Thanks for the bug report. The only
way we can accept contributions is via
Gerrit. If you’re not familiar with
this, see [1]. Let me know if you have
any problems.
Unfortunately it’s too late for
Mars GA, but we can still put the
changes into a PTP 9.0.1 release and
make them available on the update
site. They will also be included in
the Mars SR1 release in September.
Regards,
Greg
I hope it can make it to
Mars.
Rocky
Just wondering if
anyone has reproduced it
or if anyone plans to
address it before Mars
release? It really is
quite ugly when the
extra windows pop up.
Maybe it's just
aesthetics, but I
imagine it will convince
many users that the
remote connection is
broken.
Rocky
In PTP
Mars RC4, I
added two
remote
connections
under
Preferences-->Remote
Development-->Remote
Connections.
One connection
is used as a
proxy for the
other.
When opening
the
connection,
whenever a
message pops
up an
additional
blank window
also pops up
in the
background.
(See attached
screenshots.)
The extra
windows cannot
be closed
until after
the
preferences
page is
closed.
Good news is the
connection
itself was
successful, but
the extra
windows look
pretty bad...
The extra
windows seem to
appear anytime a
connection is
opened, e.g.,
when kicking off
a sync and the
connection needs
to be reopened.
